Dear Dave,

Re – Demolition of Taupo Medium Density Fibre Plant
I would like to thank you and your team for the very successful demolition work completed on the Taupo Site from July 2008 – February 2009.

It was a huge undertaking which included:

  • a complete and detailed hazard management plan
  • the removal of ~3000 MT of steel
  • 90 MT individual lifts
  • 450mm plate steel gas cutting
  • safe demolition of two 67m high driers
  • concrete demolition.

Your team of 10 men which included Steiner + Moses and Jurgens staff worked cohesively together under John Davis.

The key achievement was that all hazards and near misses were reported and followed up on. Because of this, the entire job was completed with zero injuries. This has contributed to the new Site Contractor record of ‘5 Years LTI Free’.

Thank you for you and your team’s work.

Regards, Rheas Goldsbury
Site + Engineering Manager

W Macaulay Limited – MTG Disposal Contract

This letter is unofficial and represents the views of the writer not Methanex New Zealand Ltd.

Methanex New Zealand Ltd does not issue letters of recommendation for its vendors and suppliers.

W Macaulay Limited assisted us over a period of around 18 months as main contractors for the disposal of our surplus MTG plant.

Methanex and Macaulay formed a combined team to manage the project. This worked extremely effectively to the benefit of both parties.

Macaulay’s people (including their sub-contractors) were generally very good to work with and have on site. They showed high levels of skill and motivation.

The contractor met the health safely requirements set by Methanex New Zealand Ltd, Some training of the contractor’s personnel was required and this was undertaken with a positive attitude. The safety statistics are very good with only a handful of minor injuries, small burns, cuts, and twisted ankles.

Jeff Harris added significant value to the process for Methanex New Zealand Ltd. (Managing Director). I found him very capable, professional, open and honest in all dealings.

The entire project was a major success for Methanex. Macaulays was a very big part of that success.

Please do not hesitate to contact the writer by phone should you wish to discuss further. (06 752 1380 HM)
